In line with the busy schedule, Chelsea made a number of changes. Zecira Musovic made her first start of the season in goal. Aniek Nouwen also made her Chelsea debut, alongside Millie Bright and Magda Eriksson at the back. Niamh Charles and Jonna Andersson occupied the wingback spots, with Sophie Ingle and Drew Spence in the centre. The front 3 saw English duo Beth England and Fran Kirby accompanied by Jessie Fleming.

First Half

Before kick-off, Chelsea players showed solidarity with NWSL players involved in the allegations against former North Carolina Courage coach Paul Riley. The Englishman was sacked this week following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.

Chelsea were eager to try and kick on after the midweek draw with Wolfsburg, but they found themselves frustrated early on. Niamh Charles had a chance to break the deadlock, but her header floated over.

A dogged Leicester restricted space and forced Chelsea to shoot from long-range. Jessie Fleming was next to go closest. Her long-range drive forced an excellent save from Foxes keeper Kirstie Levell.

At half-time, it was a frustrating day for the Blues.

Second Half

Emma Hayes turned to her bench at half-time. The cavalry of Sam Kerr and Pernille Harder were both called to help break the deadlock. Kerr went close almost immediately, but Levell again saved well.

The Blues went closest on the 50th minute. A corner found Magda Eriksson and the captain looped a header towards goal. However, Jess Sigsworth brilliantly cleared off the line. Levell again produced a superb save to deny Kerr, before denying Pernille Harder with her feet.

The Dane was not to be denied on the 82nd minute, however. A short corner was worked to Jessie Fleming. The Canuck drove into the box and cut the ball back. Harder arrived at the right time to slot home with her left foot.

The Blues sealed the deal with virtually the last kick. Again Harder was involved, flicking on a long ball to Sam Kerr. Her precise knock-on released Fran Kirby, and she finished well past Levell to seal it.
