After a long international break, it’s once again back to Premier League action for Tommy Tuchel’s high-flying Blues as they face Brentford. While the team were in good form and winning games prior to the split, the two-week gap in fixtures could give them a chance to mentally reset and get back to 100% before the business end of the season.
They will take on Brentford at Stamford Bridge in a game which could be really tough if the reverse fixture is anything to go by. The Bees are a newly promoted side but look comfortable in the top flight of English Football. They are built on solid defensive foundations and seem to have found a creative spark in the rejuvenated Christian Eriksen.
As well as being an interesting game on the park, there will be talking points off it. Protests are expected outside the ground as part of the #NoToRicketts campaign and banners will be displayed inside. Chelsea fans will be looking to make their voices heard, which should create an interesting atmosphere for the game to be played in.
Going into the match, Chelsea will have to contend with fitness issues thanks to the International break. Thiago Silva and Christian Pulisic for example have both done recovery work but could be fatigued due to travel. On a positive note, Reece James is back available and ready for selection. Only Hudson-Odoi and Chilwell are guaranteed to miss out.
For Brentford, there have now new injury concerns to deal with according to manager Thomas Frank. Julian Jeanvier has a long-term issue however.
This is another important game for Chelsea and another one they will be expected to win. The results have been good lately, but the chasing pack are looking strong and Brentford are no pushovers. Chelsea will need to find their rhythm quickly if they are to get another big three points in the Premier League.

Chelsea is finally back to action after an eventful international break! Despite everything that has been happening, even with the off-field issues regarding ownership (including the crucial #NoToRicketts protests), the team has repeatedly proved how they can get the job done confidently with complete focus on the game.
Given the complicated upcoming April schedule – playing Brentford will be more of a warm-up for the next couple of fixtures. That is – especially the Champions League quarter-final match against Real Madrid next Wednesday. Everything points out that a win is underway, considering our (recent) history with the Bees. With that in mind, a few names that are very likely to make the difference are Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz. The Morrocan is no longer playing internationally and is ready to display a creative spark on the front three. As for the silky German himself, he is indisputably the best chance for the Blues to find the back of the net early in the game.
As it is generally known, Chelsea is a team that performs superbly under complicated circumstances (whether on or off the pitch), and this will be no different from that. Tuchel’s side is back to good form, and realistically, the 90 minutes will lead to a straightforward victory at home. Thus, my prediction is Chelsea 2 – 0 Brentford.
Up the Chels!
Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Brentford
Returning to club football with Brentford at home in a packed Stamford Bridge, looking forward to it. We’ve been in good form over the past few months. We’ve been scoring goals, keeping clean sheets albeit not as solid defensively as we once were.
Brentford are a good team but I expect us to dominate them regardless of scoreline. With Reece James back in full team training, even if he comes off the bench he could end up grabbing a goal and assist. I don’t particularly like international breaks but it gives every team a good chance to refresh and recharge but I just expect us to continue our form and carry on winning these types of games.
We need to get third place secured so that we can shift our focus onto UCL and FA Cup. I can see us beating Brentford this weekend; will certainly be interesting to see if Havertz starts with Real Madrid coming up soon.
Will also be interesting to see if Ziyech starts. Feel like he’s been a little bit thrown under the bus for his good form when he’s played out wide on the right.
This is a game we should really win comfortably.
Predictions: Chelsea 2-0 Brentford

Chelsea host two key games this week, starting with a return to league action against West London neighbours Brentford. The reverse fixture was a difficult night for the blues, who had Ben Chilwell to thank for scoring the games only goal and Edouard Mendy who kept it that way.
Chelsea expect to welcome back Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi to the squad following injury. Brentford have managed a few wins since the arrival of Christian Eriksen added some real class to their midfield and I would expect him to be their central man again if fit, pulling the strings for danger man Ivan Toney.
Chelsea ought not to be too worried with their own forwards in fine form and Christian Pulisic scoring a hat-trick whilst on international duty with the USA this week and Havertz and Werner also picking up goals with Germany. I’m anticipating a clean sheet in front of a half full Stamford Bridge, and two or three goals to Chelsea. 3-0, why not.
Prediction: Chelsea 3-0 Brentford

The return of Chelsea football feels bittersweet. With International break over mighty Blues grace Stamford Bridge once again but with several missions ahead. One being the race for top four as Arsenal climb up the ranks. Second, is the most important one which is the roaring voices of Chelsea fans that will storm the streets in protest. #NotoRicketts will be heard around London and around the world as fans will make it known of the controversy surrounding the Rickett family.
With ownership still in bidding negotiations, The Blues will have to be focused 100% once again as Brentford comes to visit our home. It won’t be an easy game as the Bees are resilient and physical in all aspect of the pitch.
One thing for sure is that Chelsea fans will be up for this game and the 12th man effect will be in motion. Hopefully our players respond well and gets us the win as we progress through these tough times.
I predict a physical encounter between the two where Brentford will have chances on the counter. Their speedy attack will be need to in check as we can’t allow them chances on the break. Nevertheless, I expect Chelsea to get the job done. My final prediction is a 1-0 win for the Blues.
CMON YOU CHELS!!
Prediction: Chelsea 1-0 Brentford
